What are the benefits?  Well the language is still being developed and probably will be for years, so a definitive list of benefits would be impossible to state right now, but there are many new elements, attributes and methods, take a look here for a bit more information.

Why build a showcase site for HTML5? We’ve been keeping an eye on the development of HTML5 and have seen some pretty neat sites come up and thought if we put them all in one place, it would help us and the global community to see what HTML5 can do!

Why isn’t our site in HTML5? Browser compatibility and technology is going to take a while to catch up, so we figured that we’d rather have everyone able to view our site correctly and have left it as XHTML 1.0 STRICT.  We are planning on building an alternative HTML5 site in the near future, so keep an eye out!
